Comparison between single port videolaparoscopy and miniceliotomy with snock hook ovariohysterectomy techniques in bitches Ciência Rural
Coutinho,Alexandre José; Gasser,Beatriz; Rodriguez,Mariana Garcia Kako; Uscategui,Ricardo Andres Ramirez; Santos,Victor José Correia; Tiosso,Caio de Faria; Barros,Felipe Farias Pereira da Câmara; Toniollo,Gilson Hélio.
ABSTRACT: In order to use and study minimally invasive techniques to reduce side effects of ovarian-hysterectomy (OHE) in bitches, the aim of this study was to compare time, surgical complications, pain and postoperative inflammatory response, caused by single port videolaparoscopic OHE and traditional miniceliotomy with snook hook. Twenty-four healthy bitches were randomly divided in two groups: videolaparoscopy (Video) and miniceliotomy (MiniLap). Surgical time and complications, pain, need for analgesic rescue, C-reactive protein concentration, glycaemia and voluntary food ingestion were evaluated during 24 hours following the procedure and compared statistically. Surgical time (38±7min), surgical complications (17%), postoperative pain intensity, need...

Hemodynamic gestational adaptation in bitches Ciência Rural
Almeida,Vívian Tavares de; Uscategui,Ricardo Andres Ramirez; Silva,Priscila Del Aguila da; Avante,Michele Lopes; Simões,Ana Paula Rodrigues; Vicente,Wilter Ricardo Russiano.
ABSTRACT: Throughout pregnancy, maternal hemodynamic adaptation is needed to ensure proper uterine perfusion and fetal development. When the uteroplacental vascular system is formed, starting with reduced resistance to uterine arterial flow, this results in decreased total vascular resistance, an activation of neuroendocrine vasoactive peptides, an increase in circulating blood and changes in the cardiovascular system morphophysiology to respond to the increasing demands of uterine perfusion. There has been considerable study of hemodynamic adaptation in pregnant women and this assessment has become a diagnostic tool for fatal obstetric disorders. However, in bitches the available information in this regard is limited; therefore a parallel was drawn...

Methods for glomerular quantification in dogs: a comparative study Ciência Rural
Costa,Caio Augusto Leles; Lima,Charles Silva de; Uscategui,Ricardo Andres Ramirez; Silva,Gyl Eanes Barros; Crivellenti,Leandro Zuccolotto.
ABSTRACT: It was evaluated the different methodologies for glomerular enumeration described in the literature in a quantitative, double-blind study on the number of glomeruli present in kidney biopsy specimens obtained using a Tru-cut-type biopsy needle. Eighteen samples were taken (n=18) from various regions of canine kidneys harvested immediately after euthanasia. Sample collection was carried out using Tru-cut-type, semi-automated, 16 gauge needles. Reading and evaluation of the specimens were performed independently by four researchers by means of eye loupe inspection, light microscopy, light microscopy with a reduced condenser aperture, and dissection microscopy. Samples were also subjected to histopathological evaluation for comparison purposes....
